Named after the fourth president of the United States, Madison County is located Northwest of College Station with I-45 running right through it, offering easy access to Houston and Dallas. Madison County is home to around 13,000 people with close to 3,000 families and a few small towns.  The highlight of the county is the town of Madisonville, located between Houston and Dallas and only 45 miles from College Station.

Lake Madison is host to a variety of activities including fishing, camping, boating, and jet skiing. If you are looking for a place to golf Oak Ridge Country Club has a course located right in Madisonville. The historic Woodbine Hotel is great place to stay the night and enjoy world class dining, featuring Madisonville’s very own Monterey mushrooms.  Every October, Madison County plays host to the Midway VFD Cook-Off and Fall Fest, including such events as costume contests, domino tournaments, Horse shoe tournaments and lots of BBQ.

Madison County supports two high schools: Madisonville High School, which has around 610 students; and North Zulch High School, with 140 students.  Additionally, Madisonville Community College offers a variety of 2 year programs in a number of different fields.
