Grimes County
About 26,000 people that call Grimes County - named after the signer of the Texas Declaration of Independance, Jesse Grimes - home. There are a number of picturesque towns throughout Grimes County, including Navasota and Anderson. Grimes County is located southwest of College Station with Navasota just a short, scenic drive down highway 6 from Texas A&M University.

Downtown Navasota is a great place to shop for antiques and unique items, as well as being a great place to walk around and eat. Grimes County is home to “Washington on the Brazos”, the location where the fate of Texas was decided during the 1836 General Convention. Experience the Brazos Historical State Park, Independence Hall, and Horlock History Center, all located in this gorgeous park.

Anderson, Texas hosts Anderson High School, educating around 400 students, while Iola, Texas has Iola High School with close to 240 students and Navasota High School works with 800 students. Nearby options for higher educational include Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, Blinn College in Bryan, Texas, and Prairie View A&M just north of Houston.
