Burleson County

Recreation and Entertainment
The small town of Snook, Texas plays host to Chili fest each spring. Here locals gather to listen to live music from favorite artists such as Robert Earl Keene, Willie Nelson, and others all coming together to raise money for charity. The music is top notch, but the chili cook off is where things really get hot! Teams come together with their top secret recipes to battle it out for bragging rights.
While Snook Showcases chili, Caldwell rolls out the dough with their Kolache Festival. This gathering brings tens of thousands of people to the city each year - all hoping to quench their desire for this sweet Czech pastry. As you take in the sights and sounds of the Kolache Festival, you may want to stop in and enjoy a little Czech history, as Caldwell is also home to the Czech Heritage Museum.
Somerville Lake draws a number of people to Burleson County. Constructed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in 1962, this lake is now used for boating, skiing, fishing, and camping. It was also host the FLW College Bass fishing tournament in October of 2011. The winners of the event’ set a new FLW Outdoors record for the heaviest one day catch at a college fishing event, weighing in at 26 pounds, 6 ounces!
Schools
Somerville ISD manages four campuses with a high school, elementary school and two middle schools. These for schools educate around 500 area students.
Caldwell ISD contains an elementary school, a middle school, an intermediate school and a high school, teaching around 1,900 students total.
Snook ISD includes an elementary school, a middle school and a high school with an enrollment close to 100 students in the High School.
